PGTRB - Release of Revised Provisional Selection List for the Subjects Chemistry and Tamil

The Board had issued notification No.10/2019, dated 12.06.2019 for the Direct Recruitment for the post of Post-Graduate Assistants / Physical Education Directors Grade-I - 2018-2019. As per the said notification, the Board conducted written competitive examination from 27.09.2019 to 29.09.2019 and the examination results were published on 18.10.2019 and 21.10.2019. The Board conducted certificate verification for the shortlisted candidates in1:2 ratio on 08.11.2019 and 09.11.2019.

 

The provisional selection list of 329 candidates for the subject Chemistry was published on 20.11.2019. After the publication of result, some of the candidates filed

 Writ Petitions (W.P.No. 34099/2019 and batches) before the Hon’ble High Court of Madras challenging the selection procedure. The Hon’ble High Court allowed the Writ Petition. The Board filed Writ Appeal No. 419 of 2020 against the order passed in the said Writ Petitions was also dismissed by the Division Bench of the Hon’ble High Court of Madras. The Board filed SLP before the Hon’ble Apex Court (Supreme Court of India) and the Hon’ble Apex Court in Civil Appeal No. 3745 – 3754/2020, I.A No. 117448 of 2020 ordered as interim direction as follows:

 

“We are thus of the view that the appropriate interim directions required to be passed would be to permit the provisional select list to be operated even qua the Chemistry subject, thus, to that extent staying the effect of the impugned judgments. However, to avoid any complication later on, in view of there being ten aggrieved respondents before the Court, ten seats at the bottom of the list be not filled in and would abide by the judgment to be delivered by us. The appointment letters be, accordingly, issued within two weeks from today and in view of that direction, I.A. No.117448 of 2020 stands disposed of.”

 

As per the interim direction of the Hon’ble Apex Court in Civil Appeal No. 3745-3754 of 2020, I.A No. 117448 of 2020, the Board has reserved 10 seats and released the provisional selection list for the remaining vacancies in the subject Chemistry on 18.12.2020 and also stated while releasing the list that the selection would abide by the Judgement to be delivered by the Hon’ble Apex Court in the above said Civil Appeal No. 3745-3754 of 2020.

 

 Now, the Hon’ble Apex Court has delivered its final orders on 05.03.2021 in Civil Appeal No. 3745-3754 of 2020, and also dismissed the Review Petition on 09.11.2021 filed by this Board vide Diary No. 20967/2021 in C.A.Nos.3745-3754 of 2020.

 

Hence, the Board has decided to revise the Provisional Selection List published by this Board on 18.12.2020 for the subject Chemistry and to implement the order delivered on 09.01.2020 by the Hon’ble Hight Court of Madras in W.P. No.34099/2019 and in W.P.Nos.33167, 33175, 33176, 34106, 34109, 34118, 34127, 34133 and 34144 of 2019. Some of the candidates filed Writ Petition against the Tamil selection list in W.P.No. 1278 of 2020. The Hon’ble High Court of Madras allowed the Writ Petition. Accordingly the Board decided to revise the Provisional Selection List published by this Board on 03.01.2020 for the subject Tamil to implement the order delivered on 13.02.2020 by the Hon’ble Hight Court of Madras in W.P. No.1278/2019 in which the above case is cited as reference.

 

According to the above Court’s order, the Board now releases the Revised Provisional Selection List for the subjects P.G. Chemistry and Tamil.
